EAA Chapter 1167

Old Business:

• Talked about getting the Tri-motor , B-17, or B-25 here but it's booked out for the next year

  • Horry County leaders unable to make accommodations for hangering the aircraft

  • Working with Georgetown County for support – response expected next week

• Look into new name tags for Doug and Doug – anyone else need one?

• Spring Fly-in planned for May 6

• Fall Fly-in planned for Nov. 4

New Business:

Main Discussion:

• Check up on Thomas’ meeting with the FAA rep wrt gear up landing—The FAA rescheduled.

• Discussed the events leading up to the situation. Belief is that an uninformed observer reported to the FAA what is in actuality a non-reportable incident.

• Larry will be teaching wood working at Sun-n-fun

• Hanger availability discussed again -

• Alaska aircraft operation and bush flying—condition inspections they're subjected to FAA inspection.

• Hazards of birds in air and on the runway

• Plans for Sun-n-fun, camping and places to stay—generally how to survive big airshow visits.

Tech Talk:

• Fuel and vent line longevity and inspection / replacement need

• The need for opening, drain, and vent covers to keep the birds and dirt daubers out.
